Honeycomb are pleased to work with the Southern Health and Social Care Trust to recruit 3 Band 2 Laboratory Administrators on a temporary part-time basis (25 hours) at Craigavon Area Hospital. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a supportive team working behind the scenes to help ensure our laboratory services run smoothly and efficiently. Your administrative contribution will play an important role in supporting the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.

Working Hours: 25 hours per week, 3:00pm-8:00pm, 1 weekend in every six on a rotational basis after training.

What You'll Be Doing: As a Band 2 Laboratory Administrator, you will provide essential clerical and administrative support to the laboratory team. Your duties will include:

  • Entering laboratory requests accurately onto the laboratory computer system, WinPath.
  • Checking the accuracy of information entered against the original request form and previous records held on the computer system.
  • Operating appropriate computerised clinical information systems used within the department, including EPIC and Microsoft Office products.
  • Operating the request scanning and automated data capture system and retrieving records of requests from the image archive system in response to queries.
  • Handling telephone communications with GPs, Health Centre staff, ward staff, and other relevant personnel regarding a variety of laboratory-related matters, in accordance with established protocols.
  • Adhering to the Department's Quality Policy and procedures, as set out in Q-pulse.
  • Dealing with incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Providing general clerical and administrative support to the department, including word processing and other office-based duties.
  • Working as part of the wider laboratory team to ensure administrative processes are completed accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with patient and clinical information.

  • Previous laboratory experience is not essential - we are looking for people with the right attitude, commitment, and administrative skills.

Essential Criteria: You must meet one of the following:

  • Option 1: 4 GCSEs at Grades A-C, including English Language, or an equivalent/higher qualification.
  • Option 2: At least 1 year's experience in a clerical/administrative role AND experience in the use of at least one Microsoft Office product or equivalent.
