Honeycomb is delighted to be recruiting a Tourism Advisor (Admin & Box Office) on behalf of a leading local authority attraction in Ballymena. This is an excellent opportunity for a customer-focused administrator to join a busy visitor services team, supporting tourism, events, and cultural activities while providing a first-class experience to visitors from across Northern Ireland and beyond.

This varied role combines customer service, administration, ticketing, retail support, and event coordination within one of the area's key tourism and arts destinations. This is a temporary position of 30 hours a week on a rota basis between Monday- Saturday for 3 months.

Through its visitor attractions, events, and cultural programmes, the organisation plays a key role in enhancing the visitor experience and supporting the local economy.

The Role

As a Tourism Advisor, you will:

  • Provide a welcoming and professional service to visitors attending the Visitor Information Centre
  • Respond to enquiries in person, by telephone, email, and social media
  • Promote local and regional tourism attractions, accommodation, events, and visitor experiences
  • Assist visitors with itinerary planning and tourism information
  • Operate ticketing, booking, and retail systems within the Visitor Information Centre
  • Process bookings for theatre, arts, and tourism-related events
  • Complete a range of administrative duties including filing, database maintenance, stock ordering, and record keeping
  • Maintain accurate visitor, ticketing, income, and stock control records
  • Reconcile daily income and cash takings
  • Support the merchandising, replenishment, and presentation of retail stock
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of tourism and promotional events
  • Contribute to the preparation of tourism publications and promotional materials
  • Liaise with tourism partners, local businesses, and external stakeholders
  • Act as a key holder and support the day-to-day operation of the Visitor Information Centre

The Person

Essential Criteria

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above, including English and Mathematics. Consideration may be given to candidates who do not hold these qualifications but can demonstrate a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 1 year's experience (or 3 years where qualifications are not held) in a role involving:
    • Dealing with members of the public within a tourism environment
    • Cash handling and financial record keeping within a commercial environment
    • General administration duties
    • The use of computerised information management systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required
