Honeycomb is delighted to be assisting a large public sector organisation in recruiting an Economic Development Manager. Temporary contract, Newtownabbey. Free parking & wider benefits.

The Client - This highly credible organisation operates in accordance to key strategic objectives as it has a responsibility to its citizens to provide a community that is connected, safe, clean and has vibrant places, enabling its citizens to benefit from economic prosperity and achieve their full potential.

The Role - Reporting to the Head of Service across the Directorate throughout Economic Development and Capital Regeneration. This 'business-critical' role will include but will not be limited to the following duties:

  • Focused on attracting new investment and creating jobs for the local area.
  • Manage the delivery of a suite of programmes and projects including entrepreneurship support, skills and employability related activity, town and village regeneration, infrastructure and technology improvements, and wider economic development activities.
  • Lead the formulation of new bids to address needs and opportunities within the local economy such as the Shared Prosperity Fund/Levelling Up Fund.

The Person - To work collectively and collaboratively to drive efficiency. Degree Level qualification in a relevant subject (finance, business, town planning, urban development etc) and 2+ years' experience to include:

  • A working knowledge of economic development, investment attraction and strategic/capital regeneration in a Northern Ireland context.
  • Managing staff, contracts and budget for the achievement of economic development, investment or regeneration projects.
  • Managing programmes including the implementation, review and monitoring of large-scale economic development initiatives.
  • Developing strategy and implementing policy in a team-working context.
  • Current working knowledge of funding opportunities within Northern Ireland, the UK region and further afield which are relevant to the economic growth across the local catchment area.
