Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Join The Finance Team

The South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Finance Administrator (Band 3) to join the busy Finance Team based in Downpatrick. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised individual with strong administrative and financial skills to support the delivery of high-quality financial services within one of Northern Ireland's leading healthcare organisations. Working as part of a dedicated team, you will provide financial and administrative support across a range of finance functions, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and compliance with Trust policies and procedures.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process financial transactions accurately and within agreed timescales.
  • Input, maintain and retrieve financial information using computerised financial systems.
  • Assist with reconciliations, financial queries, and investigations.
  • Support the preparation of reports, spreadsheets, and financial documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Trust financial procedures and Public Sector Prompt Payment requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and filing systems.
  • Respond professionally to enquiries from colleagues, suppliers, and service users.
  • Assist with cash handling and banking procedures where required.
  • Work to weekly, monthly, and year-end deadlines.
  • Provide general administrative support to the wider Finance Team.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate one of the following:

  • Option A: Four GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent), including English Language and Mathematics; and at least one year's relevant experience working in a busy finance or administrative office environment.
  • OR Option B: A minimum of two years' relevant experience working in a finance or administrative office environment.

In addition, applicants must demonstrate:

  • Experience using computerised systems for data input and record maintenance.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work accurately with attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working within a finance department.
  • Experience using financial management systems.
  • Knowledge of public sector or Health and Social Care financial procedures.
  • ECDL qualification or equivalent IT qualification.
