The Company
We are currently recruiting for an EO1 Policy Officer to join a busy policy team, supporting work across policy, financial inclusion, and wider UK and EU external affairs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in research, data analysis and policy support who is confident working with a range of stakeholders and producing clear, accessible information for both internal and external audiences.
The Role
The successful candidate will play an important role in delivering the organisation's policy work, with a particular focus on affordability and accessibility across Northern Ireland. The role will also provide support across wider policy areas, including reserved and devolved policy issues, the impact of EU Exit, household expenditure, online harms and emerging consumer trends.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the delivery of business objectives in line with the organisation's Corporate Plan and Forward Work Programme.
- Planning and supporting the commissioning and management of research projects with external suppliers.
- Supporting research activity in line with Northern Ireland public sector procurement requirements.
- Analysing and interpreting data and presenting findings in a clear, accessible and engaging format.
- Ensuring data analysis is accurate, robust and of a standard suitable for external publication.
- Supporting the production of reports, bulletins, infographics and other consumer-facing materials.
- Undertaking regular stakeholder engagement and horizon scanning to identify current and emerging issues affecting food accessibility.
- Conducting policy impact analysis of emerging markets and assessing potential impacts on consumers.
- Preparing presentations, briefings and speaking notes for senior staff ahead of external events, media interviews and internal meetings.
- Providing secretariat support to the North/South Consumer Organisations Working Group.
- Supporting wider policy projects and activities across the organisation as required.
- Building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Contributing to the identification of emerging consumer issues and trends.
The Person
Essential Criteria Applicants must have:
- Experience of working on research projects, including the analysis and interpretation of data.
- Experience presenting research findings and data through clear, engaging and accessible written content.
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly to different audiences.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Experience of project management or coordinating research and policy-related projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical and organisational skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders while also managing tasks independently.
