Honeycomb is delighted to be partnering with a leading local government organisation to recruit a Member Services Officer. This role sits within the Finance and Governance Directorate and provides vital administrative and governance support to elected Members, Council Committees, and democratic services functions. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator with strong minute-taking, committee support, and organisational skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and strict deadlines.

As Member Services Officer, you will provide comprehensive and confidential administrative support to elected Members and Council Committees, ensuring the smooth delivery of governance and democratic services. Key duties will include:

  • Preparing agendas, reports, minutes, and meeting documentation
  • Attending Council and Committee meetings and accurately recording proceedings
  • Coordinating paperless committee systems and the circulation of documents
  • Maintaining records relating to Members' attendance, expenses, committee memberships, gifts, and hospitality declarations
  • Organising meetings, room bookings, hospitality, and virtual meeting arrangements
  • Supporting the Mayor and Deputy Mayor with administrative requirements
  • Liaising with Members, Council officers, and external organisations
  • Managing governance records, registers, calendars, and committee information
  • Assisting with Freedom of Information requests and election-related administration

The successful candidate will be required to work across two organisational sites in Newtownabbey and Antrim and will occasionally be required to work outside normal office hours to support Council and Committee meetings. This is a full-time Temporary Position for up to 3 months.

Essential Criteria

  • LCCI Secretary's Certificate, BTEC National Certificate in Business Studies, or another relevant Level 3 qualification or RSA/OCR Stage II Word Processing (or equivalent) OR A minimum of 4 years' relevant clerical experience where the above qualifications are not held
  • A minimum of 2 years' relevant clerical experience, including:
    • Use of Microsoft Office applications
    • Preparation of agendas, reports, minutes, and general correspondence
    • Managing demanding workloads and conflicting priorities to meet deadlines
    • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to prioritise workload effectively
    • Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy and produce clear and concise records of meetings
  • Full current UK driving licence and access to a car required. Consideration will be given to alternative travelling proposals for applicants with a disability who are unable to hold a driving licence
  • Willingness to work additional hours when required in line with organisational requirements
