MSK Physiotherapist

We are looking for a Locum Physiotherapist (Band 6) to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), at Warminster Medical Centre, in Warminster, Wiltshire.

This is a locum role (37.5 hours per week) and the successful candidate will deliver an exceptional standard of care to the MoD service personnel.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide independent highly skilled physiotherapeuticassessment, treatment and efficient and effective management of an MSK caseloadunder supervision (Band 7 Clinical Specialist or Medical Officer (MO)).
  • To manage patients referred by Consultants, General Practitionersand other Healthcare Professionals with diverse presentations and complex andacute/chronic physical conditions and sports injuries.
  • To work closely with other members of the Multi-disciplinary Team(MDT) to ensure the highest standards of care.
  • To use clinical reasoning skills to provide an accurate clinicaldiagnosis.
  • To formulate, develop and deliver a specialised individualisedtreatment programme based upon evidence-based practice, manual assessment andappropriate clinical reasoning
  • To communicate effectively with patients to ensure informedconsent for assessment and treatment, good understanding of their conditionsand maximise their rehabilitation potential accepting that patients may havebarriers to communication e.g. English as their second language.
  • To communicate effectively with all other rehabilitation and unitpersonnel and with external medical personnel from other agencies/units.
  • To advise the Medical Officer and/or other rehab clinicians withregard to specialist physiotherapy recommendations.

  • To advise the Medical Officer and/or other rehab clinicians withregard to specialist physiotherapy recommendations.
  • To provide clinical reports to supply clinical prognoses andcomprehensive discharge planning for other medical professionals and, whereappropriate the military Chain of Command (CoC).
  • To support any relevant audit and research activity.
  • To be responsible for the safe and competent use of all equipment,patient appliances and aids, attaining competence prior to use and includingthe identification and reporting of work service requirements and repair needswithin the department.
  • To ensure the care, maintenance and proper use of materials,equipment and stationary and the accurate administration of any allocatedinventories.
  • To maintain high standards of recording, filing and storage ofpatient and statistical information are achieved and maintained in accordancewith local policy and professional standards.

Qualifications

  • Must be HCPC Registered.
  • Must be a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (MCSP).
  • Must have a Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy.
  • Must have experience working at post-graduate diploma level in the assessment and treatment of muscular-skeletal disorders, sports injuries, orthopaedic conditions, mobilisation and manipulation.
  • Must have a minimum of two years post graduate clinical experience in MSK disorders. This shall be evidenced within the CV.
  • Must have previously held a position as a Specialist Physiotherapist Band 6 or equivalent.
  • Must have evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
