The Hartley Arms is part of Honesty Group – an independently owned food business operating across West Berkshire and North Hampshire. The group includes 10 coffee shops, a farm shop, a cookery school, a wholesale bakery and kitchen, and two pubs/restaurants, including the Crown & Garter and The Hartley Arms.
We are looking for a part-time Kitchen Porter to join our team at The Hartley Arms. This is a vital hands-on role supporting the smooth running of our kitchen through maintaining exceptional cleanliness, assisting chefs with basic prep, and ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently throughout service.
What You’ll Do- Maintain high standards of cleanliness across the kitchen, pot wash, and food preparation areas.
- Operate and maintain dishwashers and ensure all crockery, utensils, and equipment are cleaned, sanitised, and stored correctly.
- Support basic food preparation tasks such as portioning, washing produce, and organising ingredients.
- Assist chefs in keeping the kitchen organised, stocked, and service-ready.
- Help with stock rotation, receiving deliveries, and storing items safely.
- Ensure rubbish and recycling are managed and removed appropriately.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures at all times.
- Work calmly and efficiently during busy service periods.
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter or in a similar role (preferred but not essential – full training provided).
- Strong work ethic and willingness to get stuck in.
- Ability to work efficiently and keep the kitchen organised under pressure.
- A reliable team player with a positive, proactive attitude.
- Flexibility to work on a rota including weekends and some bank holidays.
- Reliable transport to The Hartley Arms (driving licence preferred).
