Overview
Our Coffee Shop Assistants are the face of our Coffee Shops, and we are looking for bright, passionate and confident people to join our team. As a Coffee Shop Assistant with Honesty Group you will be serving our customers delicious coffee, freshly-baked bread, cake and pastries, and ensuring a clean and welcoming environment. We are an age-inclusive and disability-confident employer, and welcome applications from across every community.
Shifts and hours
- Part-time: 7.5 hours every two weeks (total of 15 hours per month; role is to cover one shift every two weeks)
About the location and offering
This small coffee shop is situated on Swan Street in the Hampshire Village of Kingsclere. It sells the Honesty range of breads, pastries, cakes, tarts and biscuits, jams and pickles. Light snacks and lunches such as soups, paninis, pasties, sausage rolls, sandwiches and pork pies are available all day.

Duties and responsibilities
- Deliver excellent customer service whilst waiting on tables
- Support with any events as required
- Answer telephone enquiries and taking orders over the telephone
- Preparing food and drinks (check temperatures in line with company Food Safety guidelines)
- Clearing tables and washing up
- Engaging with customers
- Support the manager/supervisor in dealing with customer complaints and handle them professionally and appropriately
- Use the work laptop as appropriate
- Check Slack and emails regularly for all communications
- Open up coffee shop for service: take delivery of goods from the wholesale unit and display / put away; report any shortages
- Stock rotation and check dates on products
- Display products and price
- Amend menu board with specials / remove any out of stock items
- Do fridge checks and temperature checks on delivery
- Check coffee shop is clean and tidy and ready for service
- General duties: ensuring entire shop is clean and tidy, items are replenished for the next day
- Sweep / mop floors
- Clean toilets, mop floor (in relevant shops)
- Tidy and clean outdoor areas
- Tidy stockroom
- Check all equipment is cleaned and switched off
- Place orders with Head Office for stock items / products
- Log waste
- Cash up and place cash in safe place
