Are you a large animal or mixed vet looking for a fantastic opportunity in a stunning location? If you thrive on the variety of mixed practice or prefer to focus on a purely large animal role, you’ll find opportunities here. you’ll handle everything from routine check-ups to complex cases, with visits across the stunning countryside. Our diverse caseload is approximately 50% large animal (mainly family-run beef and sheep enterprises, with a strong focus on promoting preventative herd health), 40% small animal, and 10% equine work. Building lasting relationships with our loyal clients and local farmers is truly at the heart of what we do. Our 11-vet team boasts a wealth of experience, ranging from recent graduates to those with over 25 years in practice – in fact, our three partners, Lizzy, Huw, and Helen, alone share an impressive 63 years of combined expertise. More than that, we\’re a genuinely friendly and supportive bunch that cares about each other\’s well-being. We\’ve even downward-dogged our way to relaxed bliss with workplace yoga sessions – though we usually need a strong coffee afterwards to remember where we parked our cars! “Lots of help and support offered to new members of the team, and a lovely new practice with all the equipment available for us to use. The team are friendly and there is an amazing variety in case load – you really do get the opportunity to see/treat all animals in a wide variety of situations.” We\’ve recently moved into a purpose-built building packed with all the facilities you\’d expect, including two dedicated large animal consultation/surgical rooms, and a dedicated large animal lab and prep area. We are well-equipped on both the small and large animal sides. The Rota Our vets work a 4-day week (8:30 am – 5:30 pm), with a fixed day off and just 1:12 Saturday mornings (9 am – 1 pm). We structure your week for a balanced mix, with days focusing either on small animal or large animal duties. Our large animal days are efficiently split, with one vet on ambulatory work, another handling clinic duties and emergencies, and a third dedicated to TB testing. We also run zone days for routine work, ensuring efficient travel and client service. Our RVN team is passionate about getting involved in all areas of mixed practice, allowing us to have an RVN accompany and assist the vet on large animal duties each day. We provide our own out-of-hours cover, with a 1:8 first on-call and a 1:8 second on-call rota, and one set weeknight each week (which alternates between 1 st and 2 nd on-call). You will receive an OOH bonus per call seen, and accommodation is also available at the practice if you prefer to stay on site during your on-call. We\’re a team that loves to socialise, and beyond our annual summer BBQ and Christmas party, we take full advantage of the incredible adventures available right on our doorstep. With the Brecon Beacons National Park to the south and the Black Mountains to the east, we can enjoy dog walks, hiking, cycling, and kayaking, all with breathtaking views. There’s a welcoming atmosphere and a strong sense of community here that extends to our fundraising efforts.
