At Honda we embrace inclusion in all our policies. The hours are as required to fulfil the role with a minimum of 35 hours per week. The regular office hours are 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday with a half‑hour lunch break and 08:00 – 13:00 on Friday. Flex‑time starts between 07:00 and 11:00, provided there is no business requirement. While there is no contractual right to work from home, you can request to work from home up to 2 days per week, again ensuring no business requirement to attend the office.
This role is suitable for an individual who would like to experience working in a Treasury department, including exposure to financial accounting and managerial accounting functions. The role covers key Treasury tasks such as managing cash flow, paying liabilities as they fall due, and driving SMG objectives within Treasury’s risk framework to achieve profitability. You will also gain exposure to several areas of Finance, including Tax, audit, and accounting, and have an overview of the software applications used, such as SAP, Wall Street, and Paygate.
We require proactive, self‑motivated and flexible individuals who can support these projects and demonstrate initiative to add value at Honda Motor Europe Ltd.
Main Responsibilities
- Cashflow Forecasting and management.
- Preparation of detailed analysis on HFE’s outstanding liabilities.
- Assist Manager and Analyst with Treasury trade journal and cash settlement journal reporting to G/L at M/E.
- Using Barclays, make payments for Treasury trades and ad hoc invoices for Finance and other departments.
- Using Paygate, manage the BACS/Faster Payment file submissions and reports for retail and wholesale business activities.
- Support Treasury Manager and Analyst in driving automation and new reports/projects – such as updating Treasury Management System.
- Assist with ad hoc project work in the finance area, i.e. Excel training, monthly discussion of finance topics.
Required Qualifications, skills and experience
- Must be an undergraduate undertaking a business‑related degree, looking for a placement as part of studies; preferably Economics or Finance.
- Knowledgeable in the use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Analytical mind, with the ability to see end‑to‑end process and demonstrate solutions.
- Ability to work with and interpret vast amounts of data and explain anomalies.
- Highly motivated, with an enquiring mind and passion for excellence.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work alongside other departments to resolve payment and technical related queries.
Desirable
- Knowledge of VBA/Syntax.
