About Us

Our mission is to build student homes that look amazing and offer a rental experience that is better than the market norm. Launched in 2024 and already scaling quickly, Homie operates across Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Durham, Liverpool and Bristol, with a new Manchester-area hub opened in April this year. As we grow, we are building an in-house operations team to deliver a best-in-class service to our residents and drive the business forward.
The Role
The National Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring all Homie properties meet legal, safety, and internal standards, while driving a strong culture of compliance and continuous improvement. We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Compliance Manager to take ownership of statutory and regulatory compliance across a growing student housing portfolio. You will take ownership of compliance across the portfolio, from certifications and audits through to remedial works and onboarding new homes, ensuring we meet all statutory obligations while maintaining a high-quality living experience for our residents. This role works closely with the regional property teams and external contractors playing a key part in building scalable, best-in-class compliance processes as Homie continues to grow.
What You’ll Do
- Compliance & Property Standards

- Ensure all inspections, servicing, and certifications are completed on time, to required standards and recorded accurately.
- Maintain clear, audit-ready compliance records across internal systems.
- Conduct regular audits and checks to ensure properties meet Homie and legal standards.
- HMO Licensing & Regulation
- Manage HMO licensing applications, renewals, and ongoing compliance requirements.
- Ensure properties meet local authority and housing regulation standards.
- Act as the key point of contact for compliance with local authorities.
- Remedials & Contractor Coordination
- Track and manage all compliance-related remedial works through to completion.
- Coordinate contractors and internal teams to deliver works within required timeframes.
- Monitor contractor performance against compliance and service standards.
- Portfolio Onboarding & Mobilisation
- Audit compliance information for properties that we are in the process of acquiring to ensure that they meet the required safety standard.
- Onboard newly acquired properties into our compliance system.
- Embed standardised compliance processes and standards across new properties.
- Systems, Reporting & Improvement
- Track compliance performance, risks, and KPIs across the portfolio.
- Support the development of systems and processes to improve efficiency and visibility.
- Continuously improve how we manage compliance as we scale.
- Culture & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a champion for health, safety, and compliance across the organisation.
- Work cross-functionally with investment, development, property, and maintenance teams.
- Balance compliance requirements with operational efficiency and commercial outcomes.
About You
- 3 years minimum experience in a compliance, health & safety, or property-related role.
- Experience in student housing or HMOs.
- Strong understanding of UK property compliance requirements.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with strong record-keeping and reporting skills.
- Confident communicator, able to work with contractors, local authorities, and internal teams.
- Proactive and solutions-focused, with a hands-on approach.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of HMO licensing.
- NEBOSH, IOSH, or similar qualification.
- Experience using compliance or property management systems.
