Be our Head Chef, but most importantly, be you. We are looking for a talented, hands-on Head Chef to lead the kitchen at Concours House, our small café and events venue with big plans. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who wants real ownership, creative input, and the chance to be part of an exciting growth journey.

Day to day, you’ll be running a fresh, refined café-style food offering, while helping us develop our growing VIP events side. This is not a huge brigade or a large hotel banqueting kitchen. It is a small, focused kitchen where organisation, consistency, creativity, and calm leadership really matter. You’ll have the autonomy to shape menus, improve systems, build standards, and help create a food offering that reflects the premium feel of Concours House.

What’s also exciting about this role is the work-life balance. You’ll have a set rota with every Monday and Tuesday off, and regular hours of 7:30am to 4:30pm. There may be VIP evening events - these will be part of the exciting direction we are growing into.

What you’ll be doing

  • You’ll lead the day-to-day kitchen operation, delivering a fresh, modern, café-style menu with consistency, quality, and flair.
  • You’ll take ownership of prep, service, ordering, stock rotation, wastage control, food safety, kitchen cleanliness, and day-to-day organisation.
  • You’ll also support the development of seasonal dishes, specials, and event menus, helping us create memorable food experiences for both café guests and private event clients.
  • You’ll work closely with front of house and management to make sure the guest experience feels seamless, polished, and personal.
  • As the business grows, you’ll also play an important part in shaping the kitchen, supporting junior team members, and helping build the food identity of Concours House.

About you

  • You may already be a Head Chef, or you could be a strong Sous Chef or Senior Chef who is ready to step up and take ownership of your own kitchen.
  • You’ll need strong all-round cooking skills, a love of fresh ingredients, and a genuine pride in every plate you send out.
  • You’ll be organised, reliable, calm under pressure, and confident running a clean, professional kitchen.
  • You’ll also understand the importance of food hygiene, HACCP, COSHH, stock control, GP, ordering, and kitchen efficiency.
  • Most importantly, you’ll be someone who enjoys being hands‑on, taking responsibility, and helping a venue grow.

What you’ll need to bring

  • Experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef, Senior Chef, or similar in a quality café, restaurant, members’ club, hotel, or events venue.
  • Strong cooking skills with a focus on fresh, modern, high-quality food.
  • Good organisation, stock control, ordering, and wastage management.
  • High standards of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness.
  • A calm, positive, professional approach.
  • Pride in presentation, consistency, and guest experience.
  • A creative mindset and interest in developing menus and event food.
  • A hands‑on leadership style and willingness to be part of the wider team.
