Role
We’re looking for a hands‑on and detail‑oriented Solar PV Engineer to help deliver high‑quality solar installations across residential and commercial properties. With a focus on solar panel installation systems, you’ll be on the sites, installing our bespoke solar PV projects, from large ground mounts and commercial units to bespoke rooftop and ground mount installations using market‑leading manufacturers and technology. In this you’ll work closely with our electrical teams and Project Managers to ensure installations are safe, efficient, and built to last. We’re after someone who takes pride in their technical expertise, enjoys problem‑solving on‑site, and is always looking to grow their skills. Responsibilities
- Solar PV Roofing Installation: Install roofing components of solar PV systems to required technical and quality standards.
- Regulatory & Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is carried out safely and in full compliance with current regulations and standards.
- Quality & Efficiency: Complete installations efficiently, cost‑effectively, and to a consistently high standard.
- Survey & Design Support: Support the roofing elements of domestic and commercial surveys and system design activities.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with Electrical Engineers and other stakeholders as required.
- Health & Safety Management: Maintain full compliance with legal, corporate, and site‑specific health & safety requirements.
- Technical Development: Keep technical knowledge and competencies up to date through ongoing training and self‑learning.
- Documentation Control: Ensure all project documentation is accurate, complete, and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
- Reporting & Communication: Provide timely, accurate reporting and updates in line with project and business requirements.
- Resource Management: Apply TLGEC methodology, adhere to RAMS and site standards, and manage project resources and materials efficiently.
What we’re looking for
- Comprehensive Roofing Skills: Skilled in all types of roofing, including preparation work, with ideal experience in solar installations and mounting panels on various building types.
- Roofing Materials Expertise: Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of roofing materials and associated equipment.
- Tool Proficiency: Proficient in the safe and effective use of standard roofing hand and power tools.
- System & Installation Knowledge: Familiar with a wide range of roofing systems, materials, and installation techniques.
- Flexibility & Travel: Willing and able to travel on occasion to support project requirements.
Extra Credit
- Trade Qualification: City & Guilds/NVQ trade qualified (or equivalent) with demonstrable industry experience.
- Site Safety Certification: Holds relevant CSCS certification, with SSSTS and/or SMSTS qualification.
- Working at Height Training: Trained in the safe use of harnesses and working at height procedures.
- Plant & Equipment Licences: Licensed to operate telehandlers, scissor lifts, and/or FLT equipment.
- Renewables Accreditation: Recognised as an approved renewable installer.
- Electrical Regulations (Level 3): Level 3 Building Regulations for Electrical Installations in Dwellings (City & Guilds 2393-10).
- Inspection & Testing (Level 3): Level 3 Initial and Fundamental Inspection and Testing (City & Guilds 2394).
