About Hometree

Join Hometree at the most exciting moment in our story. Founded in 2015, we've become one of the fastest-growing challengers in the UK home services market, spanning home cover that protects the essential systems in the home, renewable installations like solar, batteries and heat pumps, and the financing that makes them affordable. Together, we help homeowners look after their homes and move to greener, lower-carbon living.

We're now going through the biggest step change in our history. By acquiring OVO Energy's Home Services division, including the trusted CORGI HomePlan and HomeHeat brands, we're becoming one of the UK's leading home services groups, with fresh investment to fuel our next phase of growth.

The Role

You'll be the person responsible for health and safety across every business that installs for Hometree: heat pumps, solar, batteries and boilers, in homes all over the UK. You'll set the standards, get out on site to see whether they're embedded, and put things right where they aren't. It's a broad brief with real autonomy, reporting straight into the Director of Operations, Installs and advising senior management through our Health and Safety Committee.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and embed the installer health and safety framework: policies, manuals, safe systems of work and emergency response plans, aligned to UK legislation, CDM 2015 and MCS scheme requirements, and built to support a Just Culture across the division
  • Lead the relationship with our external health and safety advisory provider, drawing on their specialist expertise where you need it and making sure we get real value from it
  • Run the risk assessment programme across both field activity and premises
  • Set, communicate and audit the health and safety standards our contractors and subcontractors work to
  • Coordinate investigations into accidents, near misses and safety incidents
  • Spend time on site building relationships, coaching teams, constructively challenging unsafe behaviour and leading by example
  • Design and deliver training for employees, contractors and subcontractors
  • Run the audit and inspection programme, monitor compliance and maintain accurate documentation
  • Report performance, incidents, trends and recommendations to senior management and the Health and Safety Committee

What we’re looking for:

  • NEBOSH National General Certificate (Level 3) or equivalent, with Tech IOSH membership or eligibility on appointment
  • Experience coordinating health and safety across dispersed field teams and multiple sites
  • Demonstrable experience authoring risk assessments for both field activity and premises
  • Working knowledge of CDM 2015
  • Experience setting or auditing health and safety standards for subcontractors
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Full UK driving licence

Extra Credit:

  • NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6), or working towards it
  • Grad IOSH or CMIOSH
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate, SMSTS or SSSTS
  • Fire risk assessor qualification
  • Experience in domestic renewables or domestic heating
  • ISO 45001 internal auditor, or experience of an accredited management system

Our Recruitment Process:

  • Initial Call: Start with an introductory call with our Junior Talent Acquisition Specialist to discuss the role and your potential fit.
  • Hiring Manager Interview: Engage in a detailed discussion about your past experiences with our Director of Operations, Installs
  • Task followed by Stakeholder Interview: Review Hometree Installations’ current health & safety framework and documentation and present improvements
  • Final Interview: For certain positions there may be a final interview with a member of senior management or our senior leadership team

Perks of the job

  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and your birthday
  • Hybrid working - with some nationwide travel required
  • Free boiler & home emergency cover with Hometree plus 40% discount for friends & family
  • Discounted gym membership across over 100 UK gyms
  • £300 Home office allowance
  • Support for your mental health and wellbeing
  • Menopause support from Stella
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Regular team socials including Summer and Winter parties.
