GreenGenUK is recruiting for experienced Lead Plumbing & Heating Engineers as we expand our renewable heating operations across the South West. We want capable, hands-on installers who can confidently manage a job from pre-installation planning through to customer handover, whether working independently or leading a team.

Established in 2011, we are an award-winning renewable energy installer, named South West Renewable Heating Installer of the Year 2025, and now part of the Hometree Group. With customers already booking installations around three months ahead, we offer a strong pipeline of work and the opportunity to help shape our next stage of growth.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Work with sales surveyors after a project is won, reviewing the proposed system and installation requirements.
  • Carry out pre-installation site surveys, resolve practical issues and plan the work.
  • Organise materials, coordinate with colleagues and ensure installations are ready to start.
  • Lead high-quality domestic air and ground source heat pump installations, including cylinders, radiators, pipework and controls.
  • Work independently when appropriate and collaboratively with other engineers and trades.
  • Oversee installation quality, testing, commissioning and a professional customer handover.
  • Communicate clearly with customers and help resolve any post-installation queries.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Qualified plumbing/heating engineer (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent minimum; Level 3 desirable).
  • Proven experience leading complete domestic heating installations, not just assisting on site.
  • Confident planning jobs, ordering materials, making decisions and solving problems.
  • Comfortable working alone and as part of a team, with excellent customer communication.
  • Full UK driving licence. Heat pump experience is a bonus, not essential — training is provided.

What you’ll receive:

  • £45,000–£55,000 basic salary depending on experience; exceptional candidates considered individually.
  • 40-hour working week, paid travel time, overtime opportunities and enhanced working-away rates.
  • Company van, workwear and PPE; private medical insurance and company pension.
  • 28 days’ holiday including bank holidays; manufacturer and renewable heating training.
  • A genuine progression route.

This is a hands-on lead installer position with the opportunity to progress into an Area Plumbing Manager role as our regional teams grow. Strong performers could move on to oversee multiple installation teams, mentor engineers and take greater responsibility for delivery across their area. Progression will depend on performance, capability and business needs.

Equal opportunity employer: GreenGenUK welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds. Recruitment decisions are based on relevant skills, experience and suitability for the role.
