About The Role
Are you passionate about driving safety standards and ensuring compliance across diverse environments? We are looking for a Health and Safety Officer with a NEBOSH certification to join our team. In this role, you will lead audits and champion best practices nationwide, spending 2-3 days per week travelling across the UK and working remotely for the remainder. You will also play a key role in supporting our CET function, with occasional travel to our Walsall office. Reporting to the Director of Health and Safety and Estates and the Senior Health and Safety Officer, the role holder will ensure legal and regulatory compliance across the whole of health and safety for CET and, where possible, a best practice approach to the management of health and safety, providing an environment where risk is minimised to a tolerable level.
You will work closely with the health and safety team, senior leadership teams and key stakeholders to understand their requirements, to challenge their approach to learning, development and competence whilst maximising resources and proving efficiencies through planning and innovative solutions. You will provide suitable and sufficient advice giving them the opportunity to make an informed choice about safety management decisions and practices to effectively manage our working environment through proactive health and safety management.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Act as CET's competent person and ensure all areas of CET's business comply with health and safety legislation.
- Take the lead in implementing and reviewing all CET safety management systems, standards, processes and procedures across all field and office operations to ensure legal compliance.
- Manage all areas of CET's health and safety with due skill, care and diligence ensuring effective controls, risk management and mitigation.
- Manage all CET MI and statistics including analysing incident trends and areas of risk, ensuring lessons are learnt and communicated to the key stakeholders of CET and encourage cross-functional learning through the Director of Health and Safety and Estates and the Senior Health and Safety Officer.
- Work with CET field and office managers to develop practicable and workable health and safety systems, policies and procedures.
- Produce suitable and sufficient risk assessments and arrangements for all CET activities and processes throughout all of the field and office environments, including, but not limited to, display screen equipment, fire, first aid, CoSHH, and operational activities.
- Carry out workplace health and safety inspections and audits of CET directly employed Engineers and contractors, and if necessary, assist with any remedial actions to remedy defects.
- Ensure CET health and safety training needs are identified and delivered where appropriate including, but not limited to, induction and field training for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain CET records appropriately and as required by the Director of Health and Safety and Estates and the Senior Health and Safety Officer.
- Own the specific health and safety approval process of the on-boarding of all CET contractors to ensure they meet the health and safety legislative and internal requirements.
- Be the CET health and safety point of contact for all external Clients and Contractors.
- Manage and update the ISO standards systems and the auditing process and act as the primary point of contact for these.
- Ensure RIDDOR reportable CET accidents are investigated and reports prepared for the Director of Health and Safety and Estates and the Senior Health and Safety Officer to submit to the relevant Regulator in a timely manner.
- Prepare and present regular reports on health and safety performance, provide up to date health and safety advice and information to all levels within the organisation as required, with recommendations for improvement detailed where appropriate, ensure this is communicated to the Director of Health and Safety and Estates and the Senior Health and Safety Officer and the relevant stakeholders of CET.
- Ensure that all areas of environment, health and safety within the remit of the role comply with business requirements, including, but not limited to, data protection and corporate governance requirements.
- Any other duties as required by the CEO of CET, the CRO of HML, Director of Health and Safety and Estates or Senior Health and Safety Officer.

To be successful in this role you will need to have the following knowledge, skills and attributes:
Essential
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Minimum of 3 years H&S evidenced practitioner experience.
- Understanding of H&S regulatory requirements.
- Ability to communicate and influence at all levels, developing strong and effective relationships with key senior stakeholders.
- Highly customer focused with service orientated skills.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Proven ability to cope with high workloads, and the ability to work to targets and deadlines.
- Commitment to the accomplishment of challenging goals and maintenance of business standards and excellence.
- Strong team working ethic.

- TechIOSH level membership or above.
- Experience of H&S training delivery.
