About the Role
Homesearch is seeking an experienced Interim Financial Controller to support the business across core finance operations. The role involves delivering accurate management accounts, ensuring robust balance sheet reconciliations, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards. The successful candidate will ensure accurate financial reporting, robust controls, and timely compliance, while supporting management, the board, and investors with high-quality financial insight.
Key Responsibilities
- Management Accounts & Financial Planning
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including: Profit & Loss statement, balance sheet and full balance sheet reconciliations, reforecasting with actuals and revised assumptions, prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts and assess cash runway, support management with the preparation of the annual budget.
- Payroll
- Oversee Homesearch payroll, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, liaise with payroll providers and internal stakeholders as required.
- Reporting & Stakeholder Support
- Prepare churn reporting for the management team, produce revenue reporting for Heads of Department, lead board reporting, including preparation of board packs covering: ARR / MRR, valuation metrics, other financial KPIs.
- Tax & Compliance
- Review and approve quarterly VAT returns, prepare R&D Tax Credit cost schedules for the annual claim, liaise with R&D tax specialists and stay up to date with latest R&D tax regulations.
Key Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in an Interim Financial Controller or senior finance role.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (UK GAAP, statutory accounts).
- Experience in SME / Proptech / SaaS or subscription-based businesses preferred.
- Hands-on experience with cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and reforecasting.
- Strong Excel / financial modelling skills.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
