Homes in Somerset is entering a pivotal phase in its development. Following agreement for the organisation to assume management responsibility for Somerset Council’s full housing stock, the organisation will double in size, creating a single, county‑wide housing management service responsible for 10,000 homes. This is a significant moment to join an organisation growing in scale, profile and responsibility, underpinned by strong governance, transparency and a clear commitment to customer safety.
To support this next stage of growth, we are seeking an exceptional Head of Building Safety & Property Compliance to join our senior leadership team. Reporting to the Director of Asset Management, Safety & Development, you will provide strategic leadership and operational assurance across building safety, statutory compliance and customer safety. As the organisation’s lead professional in this area, you will ensure Homes in Somerset consistently meets its obligations.
You will play a central role in embedding a strong safety culture, leading the integration of building safety and property compliance into a single, high‑performing function, and advising at Executive and Board level on risk, assurance and emerging legislation. Furthermore, you’ll act as a senior point of contact with regulators, stakeholders and customers.
We’re seeking a leader with extensive experience in building safety and statutory compliance within a regulated environment, strong knowledge across the core compliance areas, and the credibility to lead through organisational change. This is a rare opportunity to shape a critical senior function at a moment of genuine organisational transformation and make a lasting impact on customer safety and trust across Somerset.
