Overview

Title: Management Accountant

Location: Harrogate

Contracted Hours: 40 Hours per week

Reports to: Senior Management Accountant

Job Role:

Homes for Students is a growing student accommodation and facilities management contractor with an expanding number of operations nationwide.

The Management Accountant will be working with the Senior Management Accountant and be the day-to-day contact for various client representatives. The position will ensure accurate and insightful accounts are produced on a monthly / quarterly basis for the client.

The position requires commercial acumen, attention to detail, strong knowledge of accruals and prepayments, experience in the preparation of monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations. The job holder will be expected to harness a working environment which encourages teamwork, energy and creativity.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts within the reporting deadlines.
  • Preparation and review of month end balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Accruals and Prepayments.
  • To assist with the client\’s annual statutory audits.
  • Support on ad-hoc tasks and reporting.

The duties will evolve and be modified by changes within the company and the client base.

  • Financial, analytical modelling and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with spreadsheets and financial programs.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Ability to successfully handle several priorities simultaneously, maintain composure in high pressure situations and maintain objectivity, focus and good judgment.
  • Good knowledge of accruals and prepayments plus experience in the production of monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Excellent presentation, attention to detail and ability to complete tasks.

Experience and Qualifications

  • AAT qualified or part qualified ACCA, ACA or CIMA with 2-3 years of management accounts experience.
  • Experience of working within different areas of the finance function
  • Good knowledge of finance computer software with Navision preferred.
  • Good knowledge of MS Excel and its functions.
