Homes for Students is the UKβs leading provider of student accommodation. We currently have a vacancy for a Maintenance Operative at our St Martins House property in Leicester. The role will involve 24 hours per week, with a rotating schedule of 4 shifts of 6 hours each.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and performing reactive maintenance on site.
- Ensuring statutory compliance and the property remains in good condition.
- Reporting and responding to issues promptly.
- Cooperating with suppliers, contractors, and internal staff.
- Providing a high quality customer experience, especially in handling fault reports.
Person Specification
- Previous experience of property maintenance in a similar environment; or qualified in a trade capable of working across multiple disciplines.
- Knowledge of safe working methods, COSHH, manual handling, working at height, etc.
- Awareness of health and safety issues and legal requirements.
- Excellent customer care skills and the ability to report progress and keep stakeholders informed.
- Excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Prioritising workload to meet competing deadlines without close supervision.
- Proactive, initiative-driven and able to resolve issues quickly.
- Ability to work as part of a team and maintain a flexible approach.
