We are seeking a passionate and innovative individual to join our team as an International Marketing Manager. In this vital role, you will report directly to the Head of Marketing, becoming an essential part of a dynamic marketing leadership team.
As the International Marketing Manager, you will lead and execute a global marketing strategy to drive brand awareness and increase student occupancy in key international markets. You will manage direct marketing campaigns targeting international students across multiple channels, including social media platforms like WeChat, Weibo, TikTok, and Instagram. Collaborating with sales and partnerships teams, you'll align campaigns with strategic goals and localise efforts for key markets, especially China. You'll work closely with internal teams to optimise results, tailor offerings, and report on campaign performance. A strategic thinker, you will liaise with stakeholders, gather customer feedback, and ensure business growth across global regions. This role requires technical expertise in multi-channel marketing and regular national and international travel.
Develop International Marketing Strategies and Budgets: You will develop and manage a global marketing strategy to attract international students to Homes for Students properties, identifying key markets and tailoring efforts to their unique cultural and market dynamics. Leading multi-channel campaigns across digital, social media, email, and offline channels, you will drive occupancy and enhance brand awareness. Additionally, you'll monitor market trends, competitor activities, and performance data to continuously refine strategies and uncover new growth opportunities.
Social Media Presence: Create, manage and grow our brand presence on all social media channels in China and other international markets, including WeChat, Red, Douyin, Weibo, and Instagram. Work with strategic partners to create and provide shareable social media content, promoting both brands and properties managed by Homes for Students.
Team Management & Collaboration: Directly manage the Marketing Executive - China, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback to ensure the success of localised marketing initiatives in the Chinese market. Work closely with the wider Marketing and Revenue teams to ensure the international strategy aligns with overall company goals and brand guidelines.
Sales & Partnerships Support: Collaborate closely with the sales and partnerships teams to ensure marketing initiatives support lead generation and partnership development efforts. Provide marketing insights and materials to aid in relationship-building with key international partners, educational institutions, and student recruitment agencies. Support the team with agent relationships and brand presence in target countries, including presenting and attendance at conferences and events. Facilitate the creation of 'live streams' promoting Homes for Student properties across partner platforms and social media.
Market Localisation & Adaptation: Ensure marketing campaigns are localised and culturally relevant for key international markets, with a particular focus on China and the wider APAC region, and EMEA. Oversee the adaptation of content, messaging, and promotional materials to resonate with diverse student audiences. Manage relationships with local agencies, translators, and in-country marketing specialists.
What we are looking for: A minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing or equivalent role in the student accommodation sector, with a strong preference for candidates with directly relevant experience. Multi-lingual, and a Chinese speaker. Experience of creation, delivery, and management of marketing campaigns and strategies internationally. Technically proficient and competent in the use of all social media channels, including those primarily used by the Chinese audience. Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are a must. You should be capable of articulating complex ideas in a clear, concise manner, and maintain effective communication across teams and with stakeholders.
