Homes for Students is a market leader in managing independent purpose built student accommodation (PBSA). The Company, since it was formed in October 2015, has secured 40,000 bed spaces across 160 properties with more than 50 different clients. We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Internal Auditor to cover maternity leave. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in strengthening our controls, improving processes, and supporting the continued growth of our business.
Working hours will be 40 per week, working 9.00am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday. You’ll work across a diverse, fast-paced student accommodation environment, providing assurance that our financial, operational, and compliance processes are robust, effective, and aligned to best practice.
Key Deliverables- Establish and deliver internal audits across key business areas including finance, procurement, legal, sales and marketing, payroll
- Perform Walkthroughs of key cross departmental processes and deliver key findings to initiate improvements and refine internal controls
- Review processes, identify opportunities to improve controls and efficiency
- Prepare clear, concise audit reports with practical recommendations
- Support teams across the business to strengthen processes and ensure compliance
- Track actions and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Evaluate system functionality and controls, providing recommendations to strengthen financial resilience and mitigate user access risks
- Manage the Internal Audit team and the Financial Integration team
- Perform in-depth financial investigations where required
- Experience in internal audit, risk, or compliance
- Strong understanding of internal controls and financial processes
- Excellent analytical skills with great attention to detail
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders
- A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
- Experience in property, hospitality, or multi-site environments
- Knowledge of UK regulations (e.g. VAT, CIS, client money)
- Professional qualification in Finance or Audit
