Working in a team with our Senior Technical Accounting Managers, the Technical Accounting Manager will play a critical role in providing technical accounting advice and support across Agency programmes and initiatives to ensure projects are accounted for appropriately. The role is key to ensuring that International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), HM Treasury Financial Reporting Manual (FReM), Consolidated Budgeting Guidance (CBG) and Managing Public Money (MPM) requirements are interpreted and applied appropriately, assessing changes to these requirements and working with other finance teams to implement them.

The role will also work with colleagues in the Technical Accounting team to manage the accounting for group companies and partnering/joint venture arrangements. You will be joining our small but friendly team which sits within the wider finance function.

Person specification
Whilst our day job is to deliver first class service to our stakeholders on complex accounting issues, you will be used to \”spinning several plates\” at once and will always be looking for ways to improve and innovate. You will communicate and present financial information to various stakeholders, including boards and committees. You will be involved in the preparation of specific sections of the Annual Report and Financial Statements, including disclosures under IFRS.
You\’ll be comfortable supporting the team and wider Agency with complex accounting issues, aiming to assist with the correct treatment of transactions in the financial statements. You will have a good knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the Consolidated Budgeting Guidance (CBG).

You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do as a team. As an experienced Finance professional you’ll understand how to manage colleagues and be able to demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, inclusive way.
To be considered for this role you need to have completed a recognised postgraduate-level professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA).
