A bit about the role… There couldn’t be a better time to work in Affordable Housing at Homes England following the biggest settlement announced as part of recent Spending Review of a 10 year £39bn Social and Affordable Homes Programme. You will be part of the team working closely with government and partners across the sector to deliver the new programme as well as deliver against existing commitments. We are looking for individuals excited and motivated by the opportunity to shape future delivery and ways of working, as Homes England moves to a more regional and place-based operating model.

Responsibilities

  • Lead new affordable housing business development and oversee pipeline and delivery nationally.
  • Work with Regional Teams to provide accurate data and efficient processes for coherent national oversight of the SAHP.
  • Design and implement new initiatives that add value to the delivery of affordable housing.
  • Collaborate on a national basis with the wider affordable team to increase delivery of quality sustainable homes, tackle affordability and improve lives in communities.
  • Build highly effective external relationships with partners including Mayoral Combined Authorities and housing bodies; manage internal relationships with regionally focused teams for successful delivery.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of affordable housing delivery models, including innovative funding approaches to meet local priorities.
  • Translate strategy into targeted delivery responding to the needs of places; lead a newly formed team and shape delivery as part of the leadership team within Affordable Housing.
  • Work flexibly to lead key thematic areas or initiatives through a matrix management approach.

  • Demonstrate leadership, partnership working and collaboration with an extensive network of industry leads across the sector.
  • Understand funding models and delivery of affordable housing; work collaboratively within a political environment and adapt to maximise contributions from diverse partners.
  • Show extensive knowledge of the affordable housing sector, development and viability appraisals, and regional/local housing markets.

Location and work patterns

These are national roles that can be based in any of our offices. Homes England offers a flexible hybrid approach to office attendance. These national roles will engage across all regions and require travel as needed.
