About the job

This Strategic Finance (Delivery) Senior Manager is an exciting and challenging role at the heart of the Agency’s finance function. This is an existing role with a balance between day to day delivery, supporting business planning, fiscal events and involvement in improvements to cash management and forecasting initiatives.

Working in a team with the Head of Strategic Finance (Delivery), the Strategic Finance (Delivery) Senior Manager will play a critical role in supporting the analysis and management of the Agency's programme budgets. You will be joining our enthusiastic and talented team, who are committed to making positive change in how the Agency secures and manages its resources in support of its delivery ambitions. We are dedicated to delivering a first-class customer service, resolving queries informally wherever possible, taking an innovative and creative approach in all instances. We believe in working in a collaborative and flexible way, and value diversity in experience and perspective to foster good decision making and problem solving within our team. This is a rare chance to help shape the future of finance in a fast growing, national organisation with social purpose.

Working with key stakeholders, including internal budget holders, MHCLG, Business Partners, and the Finance Reporting and Accounts team, you will have the opportunity to support every programme that is delivered by Homes England. With current annual spend of c£5bn, an ambitious multi-year Strategic Plan and Spending Review settlement, there couldn’t be a better time to join the Homes England Strategic Finance and Business Partnering Team.

Person specification

Whilst our day job is to deliver first class customer service to our stakeholders and budget holders in relation to programme funding, you will be used to "spinning several plates" at once and will always be looking for ways to improve and innovate. You’ll be comfortable challenging delivery forecasts and the underlying assumptions upon which they are based, drawing parallels across business areas to identify and articulate strategic issues and key risks to delivery. You will excel in generating high level narrative in support of the Agency's financial forecast submissions to MHCLG. Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn’t always easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do to support the Financial plans of the Agency. You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade. As an experienced Finance professional you’ll understand how to manage colleagues and be able to demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, inclusive way.
