About the role.

Working in the Affordable Housing Delivery team with Ruth Ryan, Assistant Director of Affordable Housing Delivery, the Head of Affordable Housing Loans role will play a critical role in deploying loans alongside grant funding programmes. You will be joining our friendly and talented team, who are dedicated to partnership working to secure delivery of affordable housing across England.

In particular, this role will initially be focussed on delivery of the £1bn funding available for Low-Interest Loans to be deployed through Homes England and the National Housing Bank. This role is a key linkage between the Affordable Housing team and Loans with responsibility for managing compliance across loans and grant dependant on portfolio.

This role is being created at a key time in developing and implementing the new product and is needed to stand up a new programme moving into delivery alongside our Social and Affordable Homes Programme allocations. Design work is well underway, but this is an opportunity to join at the point we will be moving the product through bidding, allocation and into operational delivery.

Alongside this key responsibility, as a Head of within the delivery team and a member of the SLT in Affordable Housing Grants, you will engage across all funding routes and with the wider team to ensure continuous improvement of processes, influence future programme design and support a positive culture.

About you.

You’ll be comfortable supporting the team and partners with complex programmes, aiming to support development delivery where possible whilst ensuring risk is captured and understood and assumptions are challenged to secure success. This will include you needing to quickly digest and interpret data, both financial and related to delivery. You will have a strong awareness of financial and construction risk and risks that could be affecting affordable housing providers as a whole, not just in the development space.

Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn’t always easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do as an affordable housing team. You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade.

As an experienced professional you’ll understand how to manage colleagues directly and through matrix working, and be able to demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, inclusive way.
