A bit about the role...

The Assistant Director of Project Delivery is a leadership position within the Cambridge Growth Company (CGC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Homes England. CGC was established to deliver the Government's ambition for growth in Cambridge – one of the UK's most dynamic and economically significant regions. Our mission is to unlock Greater Cambridge's full potential by accelerating the delivery of new homes, jobs, and infrastructure that support inclusive, sustainable economic growth. A key priority is ensuring this growth sets a national benchmark for placemaking, creating vibrant, resilient communities for current and future residents.

Reporting to the Director of Project Delivery, you'll lead the operational delivery of a diverse portfolio of development projects. You'll manage multidisciplinary teams, coordinate with public and private sector partners, and help drive forward CGC's mission to accelerate transformative change in the region. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of place-based housing delivery and regeneration in Cambridge. You'll collaborate with influential stakeholders and lead a talented team driving forward complex, multi-disciplinary workstreams.

A bit about you…

We're looking for a confident and capable leader who can:

  • Lead and oversee the delivery of complex housing, regeneration, and infrastructure projects
  • Build and lead high-performing teams
  • Navigate planning, funding, and partnership challenges with agility
  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Use data and evidence to drive performance and decision-making

You’ll likely have:

  • A degree-level qualification in surveying, planning, engineering, urban regeneration, or finance
  • Professional accreditation (e.g., MRICS, MRTPI) is desirable
  • 5–10 years' experience in housing, regeneration, or infrastructure delivery
  • A strong understanding of development finance, planning systems, public-private partnerships

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complex environments, brings strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, and is passionate about making a tangible impact through place-based development. As CGC grows, we're looking for individuals who not only bring specialist expertise but also demonstrate adaptability, resilience, and a commitment to supporting the wider team.

All roles within CGC are aligned with Homes England's values and behaviours, reflecting our shared commitment to excellence, inclusion, and public purpose.
