About the Role
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Newton Aycliffe for a Buyer/Scheduler. The Buyer/Scheduler is responsible for the procurement and forward scheduling of materials and plant across residential development projects. The role ensures materials are sourced competitively, scheduled in line with build programmes, and delivered to site in a timely and efficient manner. Working closely with the Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Administrator, the Buyer/Scheduler plays a key role in supporting cost control, programme adherence, and supply chain performance.
Key Skills, Experience & Personal Attributes:
- Proven experience in a Buyer or Procurement role within housebuilding or construction.
- Strong understanding of construction materials, sequencing and site requirements.
- Experience undertaking material take-offs and preparing schedules.
- Commercial awareness with an understanding of cost control and budgeting.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and procurement systems (e.g. COINS, Evolution).
- Proactive and forward-thinking approach.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to plan and prioritise workload across multiple projects.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to manage supply chain challenges.
