Senior Level Designer

Senior Level Designer

Full-Time No working from home possible

We are looking for a Senior Level Designer to join our team and help us in making an open world environmental puzzle game for PC and console platforms. You will be joining a small team and bringing your expertise and creativity to developing the mechanics and levels of the game.

The role ambition

The levels don't exist yet. You'll join during exploration, working from paper maps through whitebox to a polished 30-45 minute vertical slice, helping decide not just how the levels play, but what they are. This is a game about a world that rewards returning: layered exploration, creating spaces with new understanding, and a healthy dose of the impossible. Very light on platforming, heavy on curiosity.

We are a people-centric company aiming to make a positive impact in the world.

About you

Experience designing 3D environmental puzzle or open-world spaces, including traversal-and-puzzle games in the action-adventure genre

Level design work taken to shipped, polished quality

Fluency in a modern 3D engine (we use Unity, so deep Unity experience is a bonus, not a bar)

A portfolio with levels we can actually look at and evaluate how you think about spatial problems. We don't set design tests, so your existing work does the talking

Experience developing for PC or console

Work independently and seek support when needed from appropriate sources

Experience working in Unity Engine

Has helped deliver elements of design to shippable quality on at least 2 projects

What you'll be doing

Curating a world and creating well balanced levels that consider pacing and difficultly

Iterate based on playtesting and feedback

Designing and building levels in Unity with our internal tools, from paper map to whitebox to polish

Balancing pacing and difficulty across a connected world, not a level list

Running your work through internal and external playtests, and iterating on what you learn

Collaborating daily with art, programming and the wider team; articulating design intent clearly, without hand-holding

Helping define key game features beyond the levels themselves

This role is a 12 month fixed-term contract, salaried as a preference, but we are also open to day-rate contractors.

For Fixed term hires, most benefits are offered and matched to our permanent team: BUPA private medical, pension, profit share, flexible working, enhanced parental leave, 25 days holiday plus paid sick leave.

We can hire Hybrid or Remote, with hours that overlap the team's.

Time together at our London (Oval) studio is encouraged where possible, especially early on, but we're not limiting this search by geography. Our preference is to have some weekly in-studio time, but we will consider strong applicants who are based anywhere in the UK or Europe, with preparedness for travel to the studio regularly.
