Mechanical Fitter (Factory Based)

Location: Dumfries, Scotland. This role ensures the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of plant equipment and systems through both reactive and proactive maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform reactive and planned maintenance tasks across site facilities, prioritising safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Service and maintain a diverse range of mechanical plant equipment and process machinery.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical breakdowns on all plant and process equipment, minimising downtime and ensuring continuous operations.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment, promoting safety, compliance, and best practices in mechanical maintenance.
  • Proactively identify and report safety or operational issues to line management to maintain a safe working environment at all times.
  • Occasionally support wider team activities during planned production changeovers or scheduled outages, which may occur outside normal working hours.

Person Specification

  • Proven experience working with manufacturing process plant equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, process pipework, and air‑handling equipment.
  • Enjoy a structured working week (standard 37.5 hours) with flexibility to work occasional overtime when required.
