Key Responsibilities
- Applying underwriting terms within an individual authority limit to customers during the first point of contact, completing the referral over the phone via scheduler with the customer directly.
Where first contact is not made ensuring you take responsibility for contacting all customers back with terms or providing a response to their query in line with expectations.
- Understanding business and customer requirements, manually applying terms/adjusting premiums/applying excesses within authority limit and communicating the proposed policy adjustments directly to the customer in a timely manner, ensuring the customer fully understands the terms of the policy and the rationale for these adjustments.
- Ensuring case underwritten policies are dealt with quickly, effectively and within delegated authority to deliver a loss ratio in line with business targets.
- Underwriting customer‑generated underwriting authority referrals within required SLA.
- Underwriting renewal invite case referrals within required SLA.
- Ensuring all underwriting cases are written in line with our risk appetite statement.
- Providing feedback and underwriting support to Assistant Underwriters.
- Providing feedback and advice on underwriting queries to the contact centre.
- Providing underwriting support to the claims team.
- Assisting the Lead Underwriter and Head of Technical Pricing with any other ad‑hoc underwriting needs as they arise.
