ROLE PURPOSE
As Data & Decisioning Manager, you are the primary source of data insight and reporting for Homeprotect’s Home Claims function, with a specific focus on our Verisk supplier management platform.
You will turn complex operational data into clear, actionable intelligence — helping the Supply Chain and Claims leadership team to manage supplier performance, control indemnity spend, and identify opportunities to improve outcomes for customers and the business.
You will work closely with colleagues across Supply Chain, Claims Operations and Finance, bringing rigour and curiosity to your analysis and confidence in presenting your findings to stakeholders at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Own reporting and insight from the Verisk supplier management platform, ensuring data is accurate, timely and presented in a format that supports effective decision-making by the Supply Chain and Claims leadership teams.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards and performance reports covering key supplier metrics — including cost per claim, repair cycle times, SLA adherence, quality scores and customer satisfaction indicators.
- Proactively identify trends, anomalies and performance gaps across the supply chain, translating data signals into clear recommendations for action — whether that is supplier intervention, process change or commercial renegotiation.
- Support indemnity spend analysis and cost reduction initiatives by providing the analytical underpinning for supply chain decisions, including loss adjuster cost-benefit assessments and contractor performance benchmarking.
- Design and run ad hoc analytical projects at the request of Supply Chain, Claims or COO leadership — applying a range of quantitative approaches to answer business questions and stress-test assumptions.
- Act as the internal expert on Verisk platform data structures and reporting capabilities, working with the supplier and internal technology colleagues to maximise the value extracted from the system.
- Produce high-quality MI packs for the Claims Ratio Outcome Forum (MOCOF), Supply Chain governance reviews and SLT briefings, ensuring outputs are accurate, insightful and suitable for a senior audience.
- Support the embedding of data-led ways of working across the Supply Chain team, coaching colleagues on interpreting analytical outputs and building broader data literacy within the function.
- Maintain data integrity standards and governance controls around supply chain data, flagging data quality issues and working with internal and external stakeholders to resolve them promptly.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Supply Chain operating model by bringing insight-led challenge and supporting evidence-based decision making at all levels of the function.
- Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Data Analysis & Reporting
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrable experience of working with large, complex datasets to produce insight that drives business decisions.
- Proficiency in SQL and at least one data visualisation or BI tool (e. g. Power BI, Tableau, Looker); advanced Excel skills as standard.
- Experience building and maintaining automated reports, dashboards and performance scorecards for operational or commercial audiences.
- Ability to apply a range of analytical approaches — trend analysis, root cause analysis, comparative benchmarking, scenario modelling — and to select the right method for the question at hand.
- Insurance & Supply Chain Knowledge
- Experience working in a UK general insurance or financial services environment, with familiarity with claims operations and/or supply chain management preferred.
- Understanding of how claims supply chains work, including the role of loss adjusters, managed repair networks, building contractors and specialist suppliers.
- Comfortable working with supplier performance data, SLA frameworks and cost-per-claim metrics; able to translate operational data into commercial insight.
- A working understanding of FCA Consumer Duty obligations and the importance of data accuracy in an FCA-regulated environment.
- Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Able to present complex analytical findings clearly and concisely to non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to structure a narrative around data and bring stakeholders with you.
- Proactive and collaborative working style; comfortable raising questions, challenging assumptions and escalating data concerns where appropriate.
