A warm and informal family based in Herne Hill, South East London are seeking a reliable and experienced Housekeeper to help maintain their home to a high standard and support the smooth running of the household. This is a housekeeping-focused role within a busy family home. While childcare is not part of the role, the successful candidate should be comfortable working in an environment with young children and alongside a part-time nanny. The family are looking for someone who is friendly and approachable, as well as diligent, organised, and able to work independently. The role will suit a housekeeper who takes pride in their work and is confident managing their duties without supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Thorough cleaning of a large family home, organised across the week
- Daily and deep cleaning tasks including kitchens, bathrooms and living areas
- Hoovering, vacuuming and general upkeep of floors and surfaces
- Taking out bins and managing household waste
- Laundry including washing, drying and folding
- Changing bed linen on a weekly basis
- Occasional ironing if required
- Maintaining an organised and well-run home environment
- Supporting with general household organisation and identifying what needs attention
- Occasional kitchen stock management or light cooking if helpful
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a housekeeper within a private household
- High standards of cleaning and strong attention to detail
- Organised and able to manage workload across the week
- Proactive and able to take initiative
- Friendly, cheerful and professional manner
- Comfortable working in a home with young children
- Fluent English
- Right to work in the UK
