A professional and experienced Housekeeper / Family Assistant is sought to support a busy principal in her newly renovated home in Dulwich. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the property to a high standard whilst also helping to ensure the household runs smoothly and efficiently. This role will suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of their work, can use their initiative, and takes pride in identifying tasks that need attention without constant direction.

The property is a four-storey, three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bathroom townhouse which has been finished and furnished to a high standard throughout. The principal works long hours and is looking for someone who can help remove the practical and organisational burden of running a busy household by maintaining consistently high standards, managing day-to-day tasks and helping ensure that everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive candidate who enjoys both hands-on housekeeping and the wider satisfaction of helping a home function well.

Key Responsibilities
  • Full housekeeping duties including cleaning, dusting, polishing, vacuuming and mopping throughout the property
  • Seasonal deep cleaning as required
  • Laundry and ironing to an excellent standard, including care of delicate garments and fabrics
  • Wardrobe management and organisation
  • Weekly changing of bed linen
  • Preparing guest bedrooms before visits and restoring rooms following departure
  • Maintaining bedrooms and bathrooms to a consistently high standard
  • Care and maintenance of high-end finishes, furnishings and surfaces
  • Ensuring all areas of the home remain organised, tidy and well presented
  • Managing household supplies and restocking cleaning products and household essentials when required
  • Taking out rubbish and managing recycling
Household Administration and Family Assistant Duties
  • Running local errands including post office runs, dry cleaning collection and returns, fridge restocking and charity shop donations
  • Liaising with tradespeople and overseeing deliveries when required
  • Arranging car valeting and cleaning when needed
  • Building and maintaining household reminders and calendars, including birthdays, anniversaries, MOTs, insurance renewals and servicing schedules
  • Proactively identifying areas requiring attention and suggesting practical improvements to the running and organisation of the household
  • Working with the principal to optimise household systems, storage and organisation
Guest and Entertaining Support
  • Assisting with occasional dinners and entertaining, including preparing the home, laying tables, organising supplies and drinks orders, and helping with decorations where required
Additional Duties
  • Occasional assistance with Vinted or eBay listings, including listing items and arranging postage
  • Preparing simple, nutritious meals for reheating would be welcomed but is not essential
Requirements
  • Previous private household housekeeping experience
  • Excellent housekeeping, laundry and ironing skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Honest, trustworthy and discreet
  • Able to work independently and use initiative
  • Able to follow instructions accurately whilst also using initiative when appropriate
  • Excellent listening skills and the ability to implement household preferences consistently
  • Comfortable working around confidential information
