A full-time Support and Companion role for a family in South East London, near Greenwich. The role is focused on providing calm, consistent one‑to‑one support to an 18‑year‑old young woman with autism. This is a long‑term private household position suited to an experienced, emotionally intelligent and hands‑on candidate who is comfortable supporting a young adult with additional needs while also assisting with practical day‑to‑day tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing calm, consistent one‑to‑one support to an 18‑year‑old young woman with autism
- Supporting daily routines, activities and appointments
- Offering reassurance, structure and companionship throughout the day
- Encouraging engagement in activities in line with the family's routine
- Driving to and from activities and appointments
- Preparing meals and snacks as required
- General tidying and light household support
- Feeding and caring for the household cats
- Running errands
- Supporting basic organisation and day‑to‑day tasks
- Administering medication via a dosette box as required
Requirements
- Proven experience supporting individuals with autism or additional needs
- Background in nursing, education, SEN support or similar strongly preferred
- Calm, patient and emotionally intelligent
- Resilient, hands‑on and adaptable, with a positive, young‑spirited and engaging approach
- Confident communicator, warm and chatty when appropriate
- Organised and proactive
- Confident driver
- First Aid certification required
- Fluent English essential
