A warm, busy and organised family based in Cobham, Surrey, is seeking an exceptional Live-in Family Assistant / House Manager to support the smooth running of both family life and a substantial private residence. This is a highly involved hybrid role combining family support, household organisation and practical day-to-day household coordination.
The family already employs a cleaner, gardener and weekend nanny, and they are now looking for a highly capable all-rounder who can confidently bridge the gap between family support and household management. The successful candidate will become a central part of the household’s day-to-day running, helping ensure family life runs smoothly, efficiently and proactively at all times.
The role would suit someone naturally organised, emotionally intelligent and highly switched on, who genuinely enjoys creating structure, anticipating needs and helping busy family life run smoothly behind the scenes. The children are older and increasingly independent; therefore the role is less focused on traditional childcare and more centred around organisation, coordination, emotional support and practical day-to-day family management.
Alongside supporting the children’s schedules, school routines and after-school activities, the role also includes helping oversee the practical running of the household itself. The family is looking for someone who can confidently coordinate contractors, oversee household appointments and projects, monitor household systems and help identify practical solutions as issues arise within the home.
This role requires someone who notices what needs doing before being asked, thinks ahead naturally and takes genuine pride in helping a busy household operate exceptionally well. A genuine love of dogs is essential, as the family’s dog is a very important part of the household and daily family life.
Key Responsibilities- Supporting school runs, after-school schedules and transport to clubs and activities
- Helping manage the children’s schedules, routines and organisation
- Monitoring school communications and parent WhatsApp groups
- Keeping track of reminders, forms, uniforms, school equipment and activities
- Supporting homework routines and sourcing items for school projects where required
- Preparing simple family meals and children’s suppers
- Maintaining excellent household presentation and organisation throughout the home
- Wardrobe management, laundry and high-quality ironing
- Managing household supplies and ensuring the home remains fully organised and well stocked
- Online shopping, returns and household errands
- Helping oversee the smooth operational running of the household day to day
- Liaising with contractors and coordinating household maintenance appointments and projects
- Helping identify practical solutions to household issues as they arise
- Reporting back clearly to the principals regarding household matters and ongoing projects
