About the Role
We are looking for a kind, caring and dependable Nanny Housekeeper to provide long-term support to a family living in a three-bedroom home in the village of Shrewton, near Salisbury.
This is a particularly rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to a family who are going through very difficult personal circumstances.
The family includes two teenagers, aged 14 and 16, who live with an older sibling. They are looking for someone who can provide a warm, stable and supportive presence in the home, helping the children establish routines, develop independence and feel confident in their day-to-day lives.
The role is about much more than housekeeping. The family need someone with kindness, patience, common sense and a practical approach to running a home, who can offer encouragement and guidance while helping the children learn important life skills.
The children's guardians are closely involved in their care and wellbeing and will work alongside the successful candidate to ensure the family receives consistent, long-term support.
Duties Will Include
- Providing a caring, reassuring and consistent presence in the family home.
- Helping the teenagers establish positive daily routines and structure.
- Supporting the children with everyday activities and encouraging their independence.
- Teaching practical life skills, including cooking, cleaning, laundry and general household responsibilities.
- Planning and preparing nutritious family meals, encouraging the children to become involved in cooking and meal preparation.
- Helping to keep the home clean, tidy, comfortable and well organised.
- Managing everyday household tasks, including laundry, ironing, changing bed linen and general cleaning.
- Encouraging the children to take responsibility for their surroundings and develop confidence in managing their home.
- Assisting with household organisation, basic property maintenance arrangements and improvements where appropriate.
- Providing emotional reassurance, patience and understanding as the children adjust to changes in their family circumstances.
- Maintaining good communication with the children's guardians and working together to provide consistent support.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience working with teenagers and a genuine understanding of their needs.
- Experience and understanding of SEND requirements.
- A naturally kind, patient and compassionate personality.
- Emotional maturity, sensitivity and the ability to build trusting relationships.
- A practical, organised approach with good common sense and the ability to manage a household.
- Confidence in preparing everyday family meals and teaching basic cooking and household skills.
- The ability to provide gentle guidance, encouragement and appropriate boundaries.
- Someone dependable, discreet and committed to providing long-term support.
- A full driving licence and own car.
Additional Information
This is a permanent position offering 30 hours per week, with the working days and times to be agreed.
The family are looking for someone who will become a trusted and valued part of their lives, providing continuity, stability and practical support over the longer term.
The children's guardians will be actively involved in the recruitment process, and establishing a positive relationship with the children will be particularly important.
A start as soon as possible would be greatly appreciated, although finding the right person remains the priority.
