Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced, warm and energetic Live-in Nanny Housekeeper to join a friendly, busy and well-organised family household in Oxshott, Surrey.

The family have two young children, aged 5 months and 18 months, and live in a substantial, modern eight-bedroom property with an established team of household staff.

This is predominantly a nanny position, with approximately 80% of the role initially focused on childcare. As the children grow, the position will gradually develop to include more housekeeping responsibilities.

The role will involve a combination of shared care and sole charge, with Mum and the nanny working flexibly to meet the needs of the two young children. The successful candidate should be equally comfortable taking sole responsibility for the children and working collaboratively with Mum when required.

Personality and compatibility will be particularly important. The family are looking for someone warm, caring, energetic and adaptable, who can build a positive working relationship with Mum whilst also being confident and capable in their own right.

Duties and Responsibilities

Childcare and Nursery Duties

  • Providing loving, attentive and age-appropriate care for the two young children, both independently and alongside Mum.
  • Supporting the children's development through stimulating, age-appropriate play, activities and outings, with a good understanding of developmental milestones.
  • Encouraging early communication, physical development, social skills and growing independence.
  • Establishing positive daily routines around feeding, sleeping, play and activities.
  • Supporting weaning, preparing nutritious meals and snacks, and assisting with potty training as appropriate.
  • Managing all usual nursery duties, including bottles, children's laundry, clothing, bedding and keeping their bedrooms and play areas clean and organised.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date childcare app with feeding, sleep and other relevant information to ensure clear communication and smooth handovers with Mum.
  • Ensuring the children's safety, happiness and wellbeing at all times.

Housekeeping and Laundry

  • Assisting with household laundry, ironing and clothing care.
  • Supporting general household organisation and light housekeeping tasks alongside the existing household team.
  • Working cooperatively with other household staff to ensure the smooth running of the home.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experienced professional nanny with a strong background in caring for babies and toddlers.
  • Strong knowledge of baby and toddler safety, early childhood development, developmental milestones and age-appropriate care.
  • Confident managing the needs and routines of two very young children.
  • Warm, nurturing, patient and genuinely enthusiastic about childcare.
  • Energetic, positive and able to keep up with a busy family household.
  • Comfortable with both sole-charge and shared-care arrangements.
  • Flexible, adaptable and happy to work collaboratively with Mum.
  • Organised, proactive and confident using a childcare app to maintain daily records.
  • Happy to assist with laundry and housekeeping duties as the role develops.
  • Comfortable working within an established household team.
  • Driver with a full, valid, clean driving licence.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate and up-to-date paediatric first aid certificate, or willingness to obtain both before commencing employment.
  • Discreet, professional and respectful of the family's privacy.

Additional Information

  • Permanent live-in position, Monday to Friday.
  • Working hours generally from when the child wakes, approximately 6am-7am, until around 6pm.
  • Private top-floor en-suite accommodation within the family home.
  • Car provided for use on duty.
  • Opportunity for substantial additional earnings through paid evening and weekend work, at generous agreed flat rates.
  • Friendly, collaborative and well-staffed household.
