TEAM LEADER – NIGHTINGALE HOUSE

Location: Based at Nightingale House Balliol Road however ability to travel and support our alternative outreach services which include Norwich Road

Salary: ÂŁ30,170.22

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, the post holder will be working shift work in accordance with their service rota across days and evenings to meet the needs of the service

Why this role would be great for you

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Team Leader to provide an additional level of operational leadership in the service that ensures staff are supported to grow and develop within their role. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to support the Service Manager to carry out their duties in delivering a service of excellence.

Nightingale House is a 25 bed residential service to support those who have been discharged from hospital after being hospitalised due to a mental health deterioration. The post holder will also lead on Norwich Road, a 6 bed step down service in our community. This will include supporting the residents who live in this accommodation i.e. completing support sessions, updating risk assessments, and ensuring fire checks are completed amongst other duties.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising some of our staff team at Nightingale House, this will include completing supervisions, induction plans, documents required for People HR. They will also be expected to ensure the rota is updated to ensure we have enough staff to ensure the service runs safely. an understanding of connect teams and utilising bank staff, and/or agency when needed.

The post holder is expected to have a visible presence in service, managing their diary to ensure tasks are completed on time, and having an interest and passion for mental health services. The applicant will be expected to work with both the team, and the manager to ensure Nightingale meets its KPIs, identify training needs, and provide feedback.

The post holder is expected to have an interest in mental health and liaise with mental health teams, social services, amongst other professionals. The post holder will have confidence updating risk assessments, support planning, case notes and a keen understanding of safeguarding protocol. The applicant will be required to complete case file audits to ensure the work we complete in service is streamlined.

What your week may look like

The Team Leader will be skilled in supporting people inclusive of both residents and staff. The candidate will coach the whole team to deliver a person-centred service using psychologically informed techniques. The Team Leader will put into practice the values and strategic aims of YMCA Together and of the service and coach and develop the team to implement change and do the same.

Expectations of the role

  • Support the manager with managing the team at Nightingale House undertaking regular supervisions and providing feedback to the team (day and night)
  • Support with management of referrals to service and maintain excellent relationships with key referrers
  • Deliver effective communication across the staff team offering mentoring and support
  • Maintain excellent communication with YMCA Together Management team
  • Attend or hold fortnightly team meeting
  • Lead on the monitoring and reporting of Incidents, Safeguarding and Health and Safety for the service and report back to OLT (operational leadership team)
  • Prepare for quality audit inspections as required
  • Identify training gaps within the support team and support the manager in addressing any unmet needs
  • Making recommendations to the Support Manager on the development of the service which involve any financial commitment or alterations to service delivery

Experience

  • Experience of working with individuals with a history of mental health, homelessness and substance misuse
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership skills in practice
  • Experience of Adult Safeguarding

  • Experience of resettling individuals into independent accommodation
  • Experience of working with multi-agencies

  • A working knowledge of providing support
  • A working knowledge of mental health diagnosis’
  • A clear understanding of complex needs support issues such as mental health, homelessness, substance misuse and offending
  • Knowledge of safeguarding protocols
  • Excellent communication, engagement and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent administration skills
