Location: Brent. Step‑free access is available at our main office. Due to the nature of the role, you may be required to visit homes and other buildings that do not provide step‑free access.
Salary: £27,000
Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday on a rota ranging between 08:00-16:00, 09:00-17:00 and 10:00-18:00. You may be required to work outside these hours dependent on service and participant requirements.
About the Role
We're hiring a Housing Support Worker to join our floating support service based in Brent. The service supports adults at risk of homelessness, with social exclusion, previous criminal convictions, mental health, substance misuse, and/or learning disability. You'll support participants on their journey towards recovery, reablement, and independence within a compassionate, trauma‑informed environment.
In this role, you'll be at the heart of delivering high‑quality, person‑centred support through tailored support plans, providing practical interventions to empower participants to overcome personal challenges, develop life skills, and achieve their goals. You will work closely in partnership with various organisations to support the different needs of our participants, including signposting.
Key Responsibilities
- Support participants with all aspects of their housing needs to ensure sustainable housing.
- Co‑create tailored support plans centred on participants' needs.
- Signpost participants with local providers to support their independence (e.g., Job Centres, employment support hubs, community support centres, mental health trusts).
- Recognise support needs in individuals and initiate appropriate interventions to prevent further deterioration.
- Complete safeguarding and other referrals where required.
About You
This role is ideal for someone with a real passion for helping others to achieve greater independence. You will thrive in a person‑centred environment with compassion and a non‑judgmental attitude, recognising that people have different life experiences and sometimes need extra support to get back on their feet.
- Understanding of the housing support needs faced by people with multiple, complex needs.
- Experience working with people of complex backgrounds or a good understanding of the sector.
- Ability to use, learn, and adapt to IT at an intermediate level, including Microsoft and other software programs.
- Flexibility in working patterns, responding to the needs of the service and residents.
- Understanding or practical knowledge of the social and societal marginalisation attached to people with complex needs.
