About the role

Join us as a Relief Hostel Support Worker (Nights) and become a vital part of our dedicated team at the Manvers Street Hostel—a service that operates 24/7, 365 days a year, supporting rough sleepers on their journey out of homelessness. In this dynamic role, you’ll help create a safe and welcoming environment during the night shift. Your responsibilities will include carrying out regular health and safety checks through patrols, monitoring the premises via CCTV, and ensuring everything runs smoothly. You’ll also play a key part in maintaining accurate client records, helping us deliver the highest standard of support. Every shift is an opportunity to make a real difference—providing reassurance, safety, and support to those who need it most. Responsibilities include:

  • Give clients advice and information, providing an enabling service so they can access the appropriate services
  • Ensure all clients are provided with a high-quality person-centred service
  • Maintain client records so they are accurate and fully updated
  • Responsible for the day-to-day health and safety, and safe running of the hostel

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Empathy and understanding of the needs of Julian House clients
  • Good communication skills to build relationships with clients and external agencies
  • As part of this role, you’ll need to complete practical first aid training. This will be included in your induction, and you’ll have two attempts to successfully complete and pass the assessment.
