What Are We Looking For?

Maidstone Homeless Care is seeking a proactive individual to join our Board of Trustees as our Grants and Fundraising lead. This is a pivotal opportunity to use your professional skills to make a real and lasting difference in your local community. As a small non-funded Charity, we are reliant on Grants and donations to support our service. We’re looking for someone who shares our commitment to tackling homelessness and hardship. You don’t need prior board experience—just a willingness to learn, a collaborative approach, and a desire to help us grow and thrive.

Qualities and Attributes We Value

  • Experience in Grant bid writing and applications, plus fundraising ideas
  • Awareness of governance, compliance, or charity regulation (or willingness to learn)
  • Confidence to provide insight and challenge at board level
  • Supportive, solutions-focused, and a team player
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Lived experience of homelessness or housing insecurity is welcomed, and we encourage applications from people of all backgrounds—diversity strengthens our board and helps us better serve our community.

This voluntary role requires 5–10 hours per month, including attendance at monthly board meetings (typically the second Thursday, 6:30–8:30 pm). Full training, support, and a warm welcome await.

The Role

Working closely with fellow trustees and staff, you will be responsible for finding ways to raise funds to help MHC continue to support those in need of help and support. For over 30 years, MHC has provided vital support to people experiencing homelessness or facing severe hardship in Maidstone, Kent. Through our services we provide, we help restore dignity, offer stability, and provide a lifeline to those in crisis. From hot meals and washing facilities to support with benefits, jobs, and housing, our services are grounded in compassion and practical help.
