The Role

As a Personal Care Assistant, you’ll be part of our client’s dedicated support team, providing essential care in their home. You’ll be employed by HomeCareDirect but will focus solely on supporting this client.

This is a lovely part-time role available for a caring, funny and down to earth support worker in the Sheffield area. This position is for 8 - 12 hours a week, over 2-3 days which would include alternate Sundays, but there are no Saturday shifts. The hours of work each day would fit around the other support worker in the package and between you ensure that one of you was on shift each day and cover for each other in times of sickness or holidays.

About the Client & Your Responsibilities

Our client is a gentleman who has memory problems and epilepsy resulting from a brain injury. Although he has retained his sense of humour and love for comedy, sitcoms, music and football, he needs support with prompts and reminders with everyday tasks. This role would include supporting with attending appointments and shopping trips, general help around the home and helping our client to keep his diary up to date so he has all information he needs to remind him of things. You will also help to order and organise his medication so you need to be proactive and have a sense of maturity. No personal care is involved in this role.

  • An enhanced DBS disclosure is required for this vacancy (expense to be met by HomeCareDirect)
  • Prepared to commit to long term care for one client in a 'person-centred' way
  • Willing to be trained to CQC standards to meet the client's needs
  • Respect Company policies and procedures
  • Be reliable / non-judgemental / caring / responsible / compassionate
  • Committed to confidentiality and to treat the client with dignity and respect
  • Experience within a similar role, specifically supporting someone with epilepsy
  • Have a supporting, understanding and patient with a good sense of humour

This vacancy is for a personal assistant to join our client’s support package to support them in their own home. We will be your legal employer on behalf of the client and you will not be asked to support other clients. All of our contracts are for permanent positions with a 6 month probationary period.
