Homecare Gurus Ltd is looking for a kind, patient and reliable Companion / Support Worker to provide companionship support to a young adult with autism and a learning disability. This role is focused on providing safe, person-centred companionship, social engagement and emotional support. The role does not involve personal care or manual handling.
About the Role
The successful candidate will support the person with safe and enjoyable companionship activities, which may include:
- sitting with the client and providing calm, reassuring company
- supporting hobbies and preferred activities
- engaging in conversation, games, crafts, music, puzzles or quiet activities
- supporting routine and structure during visits
- recognising signs of anxiety, distress, tiredness or sensory overload
- following agreed communication preferences
- supporting safe social engagement at home and, where agreed, in the community
- following the agreed safety plan in the event of an emergency
- reporting any concerns promptly to the office and family
