The Role
As a Personal Care Assistant, you’ll be part of our client’s dedicated support team, providing essential care in their home. You’ll be employed by HomeCareDirect but will focus solely on supporting this client. This role is to provide personalised complex care for our client in his own home in Norwich. Offering 24hrs a week on 12-hour shifts which will be 08:00 - 20:00, 09:00 - 21:00 or 20:30 – 08:30. You will work on a flexible rota across all days to ensure continuity of care.
About the Client & Your Responsibilities
Our client is a gentleman in his 50's who has diabetes and whose condition of MS has progressed, which both need to be monitored on a regular basis. He suffers from chronic pain and memory loss and requires support in all aspects of mobility and daily living including personal/continence care which includes catheter care, PEG feeding, blood glucose monitoring and medication administration. Other duties include ensuring proper hydration, bathing, performing general domestic tasks, accompanying him to appointments, following SALT and continence guidelines, and collaborating closely with other team members.
Requirements Training & Support
We provide comprehensive, paid training (to CQC standards) before your start date, covering:
- Full induction
- Safeguarding Adults
- Moving & Handling / Falls Awareness
- Medication Care Needs / Blood Glucose Monitoring
- Diabetes Awareness / Mental Health / Multiple Sclerosis
All training must be completed prior to start date and is paid at minimum wage.
Who We’re Looking For
- It is preferable that you have care experience due to our client’s complex needs, however our dedicated nurse for this package will provide training and support
- Knowledge and experience of diabetes and MS
- Our client has a Labrador, so you should be comfortable around dogs as you will need to help care for her and be happy to take her for walks
- Driver with a full UK driving licence as this role will include driving our client to appointments
- You must be comfortable in a smoking environment as our client is a smoker
