Home-Start Kirklees is a volunteer-led organization dedicated to supporting the welfare of children and families in Kirklees for over 25 years. We provide practical and emotional support to families with children under five, helping to address challenges such as financial difficulties, health issues, housing insecurity, isolation, and more. Our trained and experienced volunteers work with families to create safe and nurturing homes by promoting positive parenting practices, establishing routines, and connecting families with community resources. Guided by a professional staff team, we strive to give children the best possible start in life while improving the overall health and well-being of families. Our holistic approach focuses on reducing the impact of poverty and disadvantage by addressing interconnected challenges families face.

Location: Base is Huddersfield Town Centre Office (parking available). Partnership work across Kirklees required.

Salary: NJC Scale SCP 27-30 (£38,200 - £40,777 pro rata). Starting salary SCP 27, increasing to SCP 28 after a successful probationary period.

Hours: 37 hours per week

Job Type: This is a pivotal and unique leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of operations. The role leads on service delivery, family support, workforce development, volunteer experience and specific business requirements including health & safety and quality assurance. The role requires leadership on all safeguarding practice and will be the appointed DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) for the organisation.

Essential Requirements:

  • Good interpersonal, motivational and communication skills
  • Excellent leadership and project management skills
  • Experience of developing effective working partnerships with stakeholders
  • Safeguarding knowledge and experience in a lead role (Designated Safeguarding Lead)
  • Skills in IT, media, report writing and presenting
  • Ability to work flexibly (including some evenings/weekends)
  • Full driving licence and access to a car
