Come and Make a Real Difference. At Home Instead, we believe care should feel personal, unhurried and full of heart. We carefully match our Care Professionals with clients so real relationships can grow. You are never just a number to us and neither are our clients.
We are looking for a kind, chatty and compassionate Live In Care Professional to support a lovely older lady in her own home in the Okehampton area. This is an immediate live in placement starting 19 February for approximately two weeks while the family reviews longer term arrangements. We also have other live in and domiciliary packages available, so there is strong potential for continued work beyond this placement.
About This Placement
This role is centred around companionship and quality of life. Our client is an independent and sociable lady in her eighties who loves getting out and about. She enjoys daily walks to the park, popping to the shops, visiting cafés and attending a weekly memory club. She is physically mobile and manages much of her own personal care, but she does need support with medication, meals and gentle reassurance. She has recently been bereaved, so having someone warm and consistent living alongside her will make a real difference. There is minimal hands on personal care. This placement is about being present, building trust and helping her continue to live life her way.
What You Will Be Doing
- Sharing conversation and laughter
- Supporting daily walks and outings
- Preparing meals and encouraging regular eating and drinking
- Administering and recording medication
- Providing light housekeeping such as laundry and bed changes
- Offering reassurance if she feels anxious

- Keeping simple and accurate care notes
You will be a calm and friendly presence in her home, helping her feel safe, supported and never alone.
Why Join Our Team
- Competitive daily rate
- Paid holiday
- Full training and ongoing support
- A friendly and approachable local office team
- Carefully matched placements
- Further live in and domiciliary opportunities available
We are proud of our culture and the way we support our Care Professionals. You will always have someone at the end of the phone and a team who genuinely cares about you. If you are available from 19 February and would love a placement where you can bring warmth, personality and heart into someone’s home, we would love to hear from you.
Qualifications
- Experience supporting someone living with dementia
- Confidence with medication administration
- A naturally warm and sociable personality
- Someone who enjoys getting out into the community
- A flexible and adaptable approach

This would suit someone who loves companionship led care and building genuine relationships.
