Home Instead have been supporting Island residents with individualised and person-centred care since April 2019 and have maintained their "Outstanding" rating with the Care Regulator the CQC. Home Instead is committed to providing Outstanding Care to people in their own homes, from Companionship and Home Help to Personal Care and Dementia Care. Are you looking for a meaningful way to connect with your community? We have an exciting opportunity for a new care assistant to join our 'Outstanding' island team. This role would suit a compassionate carer looking for a part time position of 16 hours a week.

With no two visits being the same, daily tasks can include:

  • Home help: Run errands / collect prescriptions etc. Perform light housekeeping tasks (dusting, vacuuming, making beds, changing linens, cleaning bathrooms, kitchens, washing and ironing, taking out rubbish, caring for houseplants, etc.) Organise and tidy cupboards and check food expiry dates. Plan, prepare, and tidy away meals. Answer the door. Assist with pet care.
  • Companionship: Offer companionship and conversation. Monitor diet and eating. Stimulate and encourage through a variety of activities (for example clothing selection, hobbies, and crafts). Arrange and provide reminders for appointments, activities, and outings. Help with travel arrangements. Organise mail and write letters. Assist with walking (lending an arm to steady). Accompany to appointments and social events (for example visiting friends or family, lunch, club meetings).
  • Assisting with personal care: Provide medication reminders. Help with bathing, dressing, and grooming. Help with continence care. Assist to eat and drink.

Full training will be provided. No previous care experience necessary. We are looking for people from across the community who share in our values to provide compassionate care and get to know our clients as you would your own family.
