We are seeking an accomplished Sous Chef acting as a Food Developer to join our culinary team at a distinguished private members club in the heart of London. This role is suitable for a Chef with a refined palate, a strong creative vision and a deep understanding of contemporary food trends, balanced with classical technique.
Reporting to and working closely with the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef (Food Development) will play a pivotal role in shaping menus, while fostering strong, respectful relationships across all kitchen departments. Leading by example, you will contribute to a calm, collaborative and high-performing kitchen culture.
About you
The successful candidate will possess strong food and beverage market intelligence, both locally and globally, with a continual curiosity for the evolving F&B landscape. You will be responsible for developing menu items from ideation through to execution, ensuring creativity is matched with consistency, feasibility and excellence. You will be confident in presenting new dishes, highly competent in food costings and experienced in managing allergen matrixes to the highest standards. Your background will reflect stability and depth, with experience spanning both fine-dining environments and high-end, high-volume operations. A passion for team development is essential.
You will be committed to continual training and mentoring of the brigade, monitoring standards closely to deliver consistency across all culinary touchpoints. A natural curiosity for multiple cuisines, techniques, and styles will be key to success in this role. Acting as a role model within the kitchen, the Sous Chef will take full responsibility for food safety, health & safety, due diligence and full compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory obligations, in line with the expectations of a luxury members environment.
